What We do
Building the
commercial shipping
of the future
What we’re building
We’re developing cargo shipping services on international and regional trade routes, powered by integrated autonomous maritime technology. Our operations will span commercial freight, autonomous technology development, and specialised vessel services.
Cargo Shipping
BASS is developing Australian-flagged cargo shipping services on the Asia–Australia trade corridor, connecting Australian importers and exporters with key trading partners across China, Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia. Our service is being built around what commercial shippers need: direct port-to-port routing with fewer transhipment delays, AI-optimised scheduling for competitive, consistent, reliable performance, real-time digital cargo tracking and automated documentation, and an Australian-based operations team accessible in your time zone. As our network develops, we plan to expand into coastal trading between Australian ports and regional services to Pacific Island nations.
Autonomous Maritime Technology
Every BASS vessel will operate with integrated autonomous navigation and operations technology, developed in partnership with leading Australian maritime technology companies. Our autonomous systems are designed to deliver AI-driven route optimisation that reduces fuel consumption and transit times, predictive maintenance that identifies issues before they cause downtime, shore-based remote monitoring through our 24/7 Remote Operations Centre, and progressive crew optimisation as autonomous capability matures and regulations evolve. By building our entire operation around these systems from day one, BASS is developing the operational track record and safety data that will set the standard for autonomous commercial shipping..
Specialised Services
As our operations grow, BASS can expand into specialised shipping services to meet Australia’s broader maritime needs. Geared container ships equipped with onboard cargo handling cranes can service ports that lack shore-based infrastructure — essential for Pacific Island nations, remote Australian communities, and disaster response operations where port equipment may be damaged or unavailable. Roll-on/roll-off vessel operations and other specialised commercial shipping requirements represent further areas where BASS’s autonomous technology platform can deliver services that are currently unavailable or commercially unviable under conventional operating models. We also plan to provide training berths on our vessels, developing the next generation of Australian maritime professionals and autonomous systems operators.
Technology Partners
BASS is developing partnerships with leading Australian and international maritime technology companies. Our partners bring proven, classification-society-approved autonomous systems. We are building the commercial platform to deploy them at scale.
